"Dear Mr. Simone:
As you know, I have been completing my co-op program at your business for the past 5 months. I am writing this letter to show my appreciation for allowing me to learn and work in your shop, and to thank you for this opportunity.
You have provided me with a vast amount of knowledge over the past couple of months on vehicles and their operations. I felt extremely comfortable in your shop due to the friendliness of your employees and their willingness to teach. I have benefitted greatly from working in your business, for I knew very little about vehicles and their maintenance previously. Now I know a great amount of the basics about vehicles. It was because of your business that I was able to learn so much. I would not have had these opportunities at other placements.
Although I'm currently not planning specifically for a job in a mechanic field, your willingness to teach me and allow me to work at your business has opened my mind and I may reconsider returning to this field. You and your staff have been a large influence in my life and have showed me that working in the trades is my future career.
Finally, I would like to thank you on behalf of my school for accepting me and allowing me to perform my co-op program at your business. It is really great that you are willing to participate in the education of high school students such as myself."
